Why you Will Love the Barnett Recruit Crossbow

This is an ideal Bow for any Deer Hunter just getting into the sport. I recommend buying something Nice to start with so that you can get the very best experience from the start. I understand that you don’t want to invest a ton of money into something that you’re not sure you even like Yet. That is the exact reason I picked to review this Bow. The Barnett Recruit recurve Bow shoots 245-FPS (Feet Per Second) & 65-Lbs of Kinetic Energy, Which is enough to Kill a deer.

I wouldn’t recommend using this bow if you are going to shoot anything bigger than a Whitetail Deer. You will need plenty of practice, and you will have to sight your scope in to pin point accuracy.

If you use this Bow for anything bigger than deer, you will most likely Injure it and cause the animal an in-humane death. We as hunters want to have clean and ethical shots on the animals we shoot, and it all starts with using the correct equipment.

Safety & Design

This crossbow is one of my favorites, because at the price range it comes at, it has some awesome safety features that were made for the safety of the Hunters operating the Bow. the Automatic safety feature is very reliable and you can trust it on every shot! This is a great safety feature that will protect you from your bow going off on accident.

The Anti-Dry Fire system is another awesome feature that is on this Bow. This will protect you from Dry firing you bow which could damage your bow or even hurt you! This is a great feature to have on anyhow and the fact that this is a budget Bow, it makes it that much better!

Accuracy & Power

The Barnett Recruit Recurve Bow shoots arrows at a speed of 245-FPS with 65-Lbs of Kinetic Energy! This crossbow is great for target shooting, Bow fishing, Hunting small Game, and Even Deer Hunting! This Bow will get the job done for deer hunting which is why I would recommend this Bow to any beginner Hunter that is just getting into the sport and doesn’t know if they will like it yet. You most likely won’t want to invest a ton of money into a sport that you’re not even sure if you like it.

Once this Bow is sighted in you should be able to consistently Shoot in 2″ grouping out to 50-yards. I wouldn’t recommend shooting at a Deer Past 40-yards, because the speed of the bow is a little slower than most and could allow the deer to start running before the arrow get their. This could easily cause the deer to be injured and not fatally hit.

Cocking the Bow

The draw weight is 150-Lbs, which will make it easy for younger hunters and Veteran hunters to pull back. It is very easy to draw back as you probably don’t even need the pulling ropes. I would definitely still use the pulling ropes to prevent hurting your finger, but it is a very smooth Draw. This bow does have the capability to have the crank fully attached to it, but in most packages the Bow does not come with the Crank.

Crossbow scope

The scope that comes with the Barnett Recruit recurve Crossbow is an easy to see red dot scope. It is perfectly sized and illuminated to see in low light conditions! It is very easy to adjust the scope for fine tuning it when sighting it in. I did read a couple of reviews where people were having troubles with sighting their Bow in, but it was very easy for me.

I also decided to add a different scope on to mine after a few weeks, just because I wanted something with a few more features. Below I will link a few Scopes that I recommend using for this Crossbow!
