Roasting Deer Backstrap is one of my favorite ways to cook Backstrap! It really adds alot of flavors if done right and can just make for a great meal! There isn’t much that you can’t throw in with the Backstraps and not make a great meal! I personally love adding spices and my favorite seasoning!
Now we will want to start by removing all of the fat and silver meat from the Backstrap, and rinse it in some cold water. You can now begin to season it with your favorite seasonings and then cut the meat into thin strips. Now, you will want to add your seasonings and then add the meat to your smoker! Let the meat smoke until the internal temp is about 135-Degrees. Once the meat reaches the 135-Degree mark you can remove it from the smoker and begin to Feast!
Broiled Deer Backstraps
Again we will start by removing all of the fat and silver meat. This will help save a ton of the Backstrap flavor. This is one of my favorite alternatives to grilling the backstrap which we will go over later in the article! This won’t have that delicious grilled taste, but you will still get a very nice crispy taste out of the meat, depending on the amount of time you leave it in the oven!
Using this cooking technique you will want to cut the Backstrap into Butterfly steak cuts! This will cook better in the oven! If you don’t know how to make butterfly cuts you can watch the video below! This is a delicious was to cook you deer backstrap and I suggest that you try it out!
Smoked Deer Backstraps
Like all of the other methods you will need to remove all fat and silver skin. Then make sure to rinse off the deer meat to prevent any hair from being on the meat! Now with the smoking technique you will want the internal temperature of the meat to be around 135-Degrees. Anytime after this could start to take away from the flavor. You will want to check the temperature often after about 40-minutes, once it hits 135-Degrees take it off!.
You will see in the video below that you can add some seasoning and then wrap it in bacon! This will give the meat soo much flavor! After you try this technique it will be the only way that you want to cook your Deer Backstraps from now on!
