Welcome to the FeatherNett Outdoors Resources Section, This is a list of the Tools and resources that all of the FeatherNett Outdoors Members use to have great Hunting success. Many of these tools are crucial to having the most success at every level for Hunting.

Scouting Essentials:– 

Scouting Deer is very important in the Hunting industry. This can insure you consistent results and success. This is a great way to see where you need to be hunting and at what times.

Trail Cameras: This is a very important tool to finding deer, and seeing what deer are in the area. Trail cameras are good for patterning Deer or other animals without pressuring them. This is without a doubt one of the most important tools to having Hunting success.

Feeders: Using Feeders is a great asset with Trail Cameras. You can schedule your feeder to dispense feed at certain times of the day, which will help pattern and attract deer or other animals to your hunting spots!

Attractants: The variety of attractants in the Hunting industry these days are  crazy, you can find them in almost any sporting goods store. Almost all of these products will attract deer, but some do work better than others. Attractants are great to put out infant of your Trail cameras or with your feeders! Scent Control:

Scent control has been a rising topic in the hunting world, personally we believe in scent control and we heavily practice it here at FeatherNett Outdoors. Scent Control is a very effective way to hunt really any animal that depends on their nose. This is a great practice for deer hunters as scent control has evolved the hunting industry. People are killing bigger deer on a more consistent basis using scent control.

Clothing: 

Clothing might be the most important things you need for hunting. There is some advanced Camo patterns and scent controlling Camo clothing on the market these days. Below we have clothing broken down into layers, lighter layers are for earlier in the season and the heavier/ outer layers are for the winter. Choosing comfortable Camo that is quiet, and keeps you warm is very important, this allows you to stay in the woods longer and therefore you will see more deer and increase your odds of being successful.

Boots:

Boots are important to your hunting success, Boots that you can hike to those secluded woods, or fields and still be comfortable. You will need some light boots for the early season to stay cool and keep your scent control down. Heavy boots that will keep you warm in the winter is just as important as you Camo that will keep you warm.

Releases: 

Getting a good release is a great thing for compound bow hunters. This is more for preference and comfort. It is important for a release to be adjustable in length.

Bow Quiver:

A Good Bow Quiver is a really nice accessory to your bow. You want it to store and protect your Arrows. You don’t want to lose or break any arrows and find out once you are out in the field.

Arrows:

Getting good arrows is very important to having success in the woods. You want the correct type of arrow that will allow you to have speed and penetration for the animal that you are hunting.

Broadheads:

Broadheads are spoken of often in the hunting industry. Some people want a reliable arrow and others want one that will do more cutting damage. You are putting the fate of your hunt into your Broadhead. You will always want to make a good shot on the animal, but the right broadhead will help bail you out of a bad shot on an animal… sometimes.

Targets:

Targets are more of a preference, some targets are better than others. You get what you pay for. I included the targets that FeatherNett outdoors uses below. We love the block targets, because you can shoot broad heads into it and the target holds together very well!

Lighted Knocks:

Lighted Knocks are very nice to have when you are hunting in the evening, when you shoot you will be able to see where your arrow goes and a general area that you hit. These lighted knocks are also easy to find if the arrow doesn’t pass through the deer and you will be able to find it if you happen to miss a deer.

Blinds:

Blinds can be very significant in hunting success. Blinds can allow you to get away with a lot more than you were just on the ground or in a tree stand, you can move more, stay out of the wind which allows you to stay warmer and you can hunt a wind that might not be ideal.

Tree-stands are great for deer hunting, you can be very versatile and hunt spots that would be hard to take a climber or blind to. You can set permeant stands which allows for less disturbance in the woods and they are very affordable.

Safety Harness:

Safety Always comes first. Make sure that you can go and do what you love, but make sure that you’re safe about it. You need to get a safety harness, and a safety system so that you know that you are safe incase you fall going up or while in the stand.

Hangers:

Hangers are great tools to hang your gear up in your stand with you. During the rut we have camera gear, and a lot of extra equipment with us. These hanger packages are great to have in the woods with you!

Rangefinder:

Range finders can save a hunt, knowing the exact yardage that an animal is at will help with your accuracy. This tool will take the guessing out of every shot. Sometimes we don’t have time to range a deer that is walking in, so it is very important to range possible shooting lanes before the hunt.

Calls:

These deer calls are great for all times of the year but especially the rut. A grunt call can change the game for you during the rut. I have called in a group of doe that has had a big buck following in the pre-rut. It was awesome watching the deer come in and hearing both a doe grunt and a big buck grunt.

Decoys:

Decoys are also a great tool for all season, but its impact is enhanced around the rut, when bucks are territorial and searching for a doe that is in estrus. Setting a decoy in a place that deer can see from far out will help draw them into range.

Lures:

Lures are good for cover scent and for drawing in deer to your stand. The products below are ones we like to use during the rut! we highly suggest using these, because it can distract deer so that you can get a great opportunity at a shot.

Knifes:

Outdoorsman knifes are great to have when you get an animal. It makes cleaning the deer and getting the meat off of it so much easier when you have the right equipment.
