Outfitting FAQ

Ohio hunting license info and more

How much are license and tags in Ohio?
A: The Ohio non-resident hunting license costs only $125.  Either-sex deer tag is $24.  This means you can harvest both a buck and a doe for only $164!  Ohio is one of the cheapest non-resident states to hunt, with MUCH cheaper license and permit fees than many other states in the Midwest.
Are Ohio license and tags sold over the counter?
A: Yes. And Online Here! You DO NOT have to put in for a lottery to draw tags to hunt with us. Just call us at                   (740) 277-8858
Can I harvest a doe?
A: Yes. Each hunter may harvest a doe during their hunt.  You will have MANY opportunities to harvest does!
Can we check out your outfit during non-hunting months?
A: Absolutely! We welcome you to schedule a visit to FeatherNett headquarters.  We will take you to some of our many private leases and show you what makes us one of the Top outfitter in Ohio!
Are the deer free-ranging?
YES! Absolutely no high fences here!  We are a 100% fair chase outfitter.
Will I have to pay a fine for shooting a buck scoring less than 125 inches?
Yes. Our goal for clients is to harvest MATURE bucks. With this, a 125-inch antler minimum is implemented and enforced on ALL of our property. Shooting a substandard buck will result in a $250 fine. Only by FeatherNett Outfitters discretion will some leeway be considered. This fine is not about making money from customers; it’s about growing the kind of bucks our customers want to harvest. We’d be happiest if nobody were fined, period. The only exception is that we do NOT impose antler restrictions for our youth hunters.
What type of treestands do you use?
A: At FeatherNett, we use A Variety of Treestands.  We like to give our customers the chance to try some different product and brands to see what they like!
Can I use a crossbow during the archery season?
A: Yes. You can use a crossbow anytime during regular archery season.
How high are your stands?
A: We have a variety of stand locations, as well as ground blinds.  For the hardcore bowhunter, our stands are typically between 20-25 feet.  We also utilize ladder stands and lower hanging stands in the 12-16 foot range for those who prefer to hunt closer to the ground.
Can you accommodate handicapped hunters?
A: Yes. We will provide an ATV so that your hunting partner can take you directly to your blind.
Can I use expandable broadheads?
A: Yes. Although we prefer fixed blade broadheads, you may use whatever broadhead you like.  All we ask is that you are confident in your equipment and practice shooting regularly.
